Karmachari Sanchaya Kosh (Employees Provident Fund – EPF) is a statutory institution established under the Employees Provident Fund Act, 2019, mandated to manage the Provident Fund (PF) and Contributory Pension Fund system in Nepal. EPF administers retirement savings for employees working in the government, public enterprises and private sector. As a trustee institution, EPF ensures long-term financial security for its members through systematic savings and investment. In addition to managing Provident Fund contributions, EPF has been entrusted with implementing the Contributory Pension Scheme for federal government and Public sector employees , in accordance with the Pension Fund Act, 2075.
EPF operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Finance and is recognized as an approved retirement fund under the Nepal Income Tax Act, 2058. This allows contributors to benefit from annual income tax deductions on their Provident and Pension Fund contributions, as well as tax exemptions on withdrawals after retirement. Beyond retirement savings, EPF provides a range of social security benefits to its members, including medical treatment reimbursements, accident indemnity claims, maternity and child care allowances, and funeral grants among others. EPF continues to play a vital role in enhancing financial stability and social protection for Nepalese workers.
